Obituary
Galen Whitchurch of Lubbock, a former longtime Crosbyton resident, was claimed by death at 1:15 a.m. Monday at his home, one mile west of Lubbock, following a sudden illness. He was pronounced dead at his home by Melvin Powers, justice of the peace for Precinct Five in Lubbock County.
Mr. Whitchurch was 67.
Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Crosbyton First Baptist Church. The Rev. S.W. Keeton, pastor of Belaire Baptist Church in Lubbock, Rev. Donald Hancock, a Baptist minister from Lubbock, and Rev. Bobby Rine, pastor of the local church, officiated.
Masonic graveside services were conducted prior to burial in Crosbyton Cemetery. Adams Funeral Home directed arrangements.
Born Dec. 30, 1913, in Maysville, Missouri, Mr. Whitchurch moved to Crosbyton in 1937. He and the former Lecy Mae Furlow were married July 2, 1938, in Crosbyton.
