Tellie Wheeless

Services for Tellie Johnson Wheeless, 79, of Crosbyton were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 28, 1997, in the Crosbyton First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dave Treat, pastor of Asbury United Methodist Church in Lubbock, officiating.

Burial followed in the Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.

Mrs. Wheeless died at 3:35 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 1997, in Lubbock´s Methodist Hospital following an illness.

She was born Feb. 18, 1918, in Johnson County, Ark. She married Vernon Wheeless on Nov. 12, 1938, in Crosbyton. She was a member of Crosbyton First United Methodist Church and the Big Four Quilting Club. She moved to Crosby County in 1924 from Arkansas.

She is preceded in death by five brothers, Warner, Charles, Ernest, Gene, and Cecil Johnson. She is also preceded in death by a grandson Kasey Dean Wheeless , Feb. 15, 1994.

Survivors include her husband, Vernon Wheeless of Crosbyton; three sons, Jimmie and Donnie, both of Crosbyton and Ronnie of San Angelo; and two grandchildren, Kevin Wheeless and his wife Kelli and Trisha Wheeless both of San Angelo.

Vernon Wheeless

Services for Vernon D. Wheeless, 78, of Crosbyton were held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 1997, in the Crosbyton First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Woodward, pastor, and the Rev. Dave Treat, pastor of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Lubbock, officiating.

Burial will be in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.

Mr. Wheeless died at 1:05 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, 1997, in Crosbyton Care Center following an illness.

He was born Jan. 30, 1919, in Ozark, Ark. He married Tellie Johnson on Nov. 12, 1938, in Crosbyton. She died Aug. 26, 1997. He was a farmer and a member of the Crosbyton First United Methodist Church. He moved to the Crosbyton area in 1938 from Oklahoma. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

A brother, B.H. Wheeless preceded him in death on July 9, 1993, and a sister, Hallie Maloney also preceded him in death.

Survivors include three sons, Jimmie and Donnie, both of Crosbyton and Ronnie of San Angelo; a brother, Afton of Salem, Ore.; four sisters, Allie Maloney of Sunray, Margie Thackett of Dallas and Mary Lowes and Pat Osmer, both of Grants Pass, Ore.; and two grandchildren.
