CROSBYTON (Special) Services for Dewey Whalen, 89, of Crosbyton will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Crosbyton First Baptist Church with the Revs. Lester B. Griffin, pastor, and Preston Beeks, pastor of First Baptist Church in Johnson, Ark., officiating.
Burial will be in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home.
Whalen died at 9:03 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30, 1993, in Crosbyton Hospital.
He was born on Sept. 5, 1903, in Aquilla. He married Rubie Richardson Ratheal on Dec. 14, 1946, in Crosbyton. He moved to Crosbyton from Aquilla in 1937 and was a farmer. He was a member and deacon of Crosbyton First Baptist Church and a member of Downtown Bible Class.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Loyd of Garland, Hollis of Lubbock, Bob of Dallas and Harold of Kerrville; two daughters, Sarah J. Sudduth of Crosbyton and Elsie Dutton of Lubbock; two brothers, Sam of Rowlett and Bill of Arlington; two sisters, Lola Scott of West an Willie Rhyno of Whitney; 15 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.

Services for Rubie Whalen, 85, of Crosbyton were held at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Crosbyton First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lester Griffin assisting.
Burial followed in the Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.
She died Monday, April 30, 2001.
She was born Nov. 7, 1915, in Crosby County and married A.D. Whalen on Dec. 14, 1946, in Crosbyton. He preceded her in death on August 30, 1993.
She was a member of Crosbyton First Baptist Church and had been a Sunday School teacher. She was a 50-plus year plus member of the Order of Eastern Star, where she was a past Worthy Matron and served on several Grand Marches.
She also was a member of the Crosbyton Senior Citizens and a volunteer at Crosbyton Nursing Home. She was a homemaker and had lived in Crosby County all her life.
Survivors include a daughter, Elsie Dutton of Lubbock; four stepsons, Lloyd of Garland, Hollis of Lubbock, Bob of Dallas and Harold of Kerrville; six grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several step great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
