Obituary
Memorial services for William Olen Wallace, a Crosbyton area resident 63 of his 65 years, were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, in First Baptist Church. Officiating were the Rev. Otis Pierce of Kalgary and the Rev. Johnnie Williams of Lubbock.Burial was made in Crosbyton Cemetery, under direction of Adams Funeral Home.
Mr. Wallace was claimed by death about 7:30 p.m. last Tuesday in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born Oct. 6, 1918 in Hill County, he moved to a farm near Crosbyton at age two. He and the former May Bell Thomas were married May 22, 1940 in Ralls.
Mr. Wallace was a mechanic for many years and an operator at the city power plant from 1972 until his retirement in 1977. He previously had farmed.
Survivors include his wife, May Bell; two sons, Lonnie David Wallace of Ralls and Troy Glen Wallace of Crosbyton; two daughters, Mary Phipps of Idalou and Wanda Stroud of Olney; three brothers, Ernest Wallace and Travis (Tiny) Wallace, both of Crosbyton and D.E. (Darwin) Wallace of Meredian; three sisters, Erma Lansford of Waco, Ethna Mae (Totsie) Ellis of Crosbyton and Bertha Appling of Floydada; and eight grandchildren.
