Crosbyton Man Perishes in Truck Collision
A 21 year old Crosbyton resident, Claud Wayne Underwood, perished about 8 a.m. Saturday in a two-truck accident, six miles north of Hatch, N.M.
Although details were not known here, one source told the Review tha the vehicle drived by Underwood struck another truck from the rear. The local man was killed instantly.
A driver for the Monty Livestock Express of Amarillo. Underwood was making a haul from El Paso to Albuquerque, N.M. This was to have been his last "run" before returning home for the Christmas holidays. Funeral rites were pending at press time with Adams Funeral Home here.
A Crosbyton resident since March 1975, Underwood resided with his wife and two young sons at 916 South Durham.He moved to Crosbyton from Scotts Mills, Oregon.
The accident victim was born Aug 3, 1957 in Olney. He and the former Maria N. Castillo were married July 23, 1975 in Ralls.
Survivors include his wife, Maria; two sons, Brady Wayne and Christopher Lee, both of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Brady J. Underwood of Scotts Mills, Ore.; two brothers, brady Lynn Underwood of Vancouver, Wash., and Steven Lee Underwood of Scotts Mills; two sisters, Debra Ruth Maxfield of Salem, Ore., and Judy Radyne Underwood of Scotts Mills; his grandmother and his grandfather.
