CROSBYTON (Special) Graveside services for Brooks Gene Townsend, 64, of Crosbyton will be at 10 a.m. today in Crosbyton Cemetery with the Rev. Lester B. Griffin, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial is under direction of Adams Funeral Home.
Townsend died at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday in Lubbock´s Methodist Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born in May and moved to Crosbyton about 40 years ago. He married Ouida Brown on June 1, 1952, in Crosbyton. He was a truck driver and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Gale Townsend and Jean Newell, both of Crosbyton; his mother, Ida Lee Townsend of Brownwood; two brothers, Tommy and Howard, both of Lubbock; two sisters; Bonnie Edwards of Lockney and Ruby Collier of Brownwood; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services for Ouida Townsend, 77, of Lubbock, formerly of Crosbyton, will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, June 17, 2010 at the Crosbyton Cemetery with Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Cremation and burial is under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.
Ouida Fern Brown Townsend was born November 18, 1932 to Otis and Goldie (Reed) Brown in Crosbyton, Texas. She died peacefully at her home in Lubbock to walk with the angels on June 14, 2010. Ouida attended school and lived most of her life in Crosbyton. On June 1, 1952 she married Brooks Gene Townsend in Crosbyton. He preceded her in death on April 14, 1952. Ouida was a homemaker and talented artist. She found great joy in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her sweet and innocent spirit was a blessing to everyone who met her and she will be greatly missed.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters Reeda Gale Townsend and Jean Thompson, grandsons Danny Jerome and wife Brenda, Randy Thompson and wife Kristi and Mark Newell, six great great grandchildren, Hunter, Harrison and Madison Jerome, Kailyn Thompson, John Tillery and Lilly Newell and a host of other loved family and friends.
Ouida's family would like to say thank you to the nurses of Interim Hospice and her personal caregiver, Donna Hayes, for the care and love they showed her during her final months.
