Edgar A. (Ted) Tedford succumbed at 7:20 a.m. Friday in Methodist Hospital in Lubbock following a lengthy illness. Mr. Tedford, 80, moved here about 23 years ago from Tulia.
Memorial rites were conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday in First United Methodist Church in Crosbyton. Officiating were the Rev. Johnnie Williams, pastor, and Loyd Hall, minister of the Church of Christ.
Burial was made in Crosbyton Cemetery, under direction of King Funeral Home.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
Mr. Tedford, a retired blacksmith, was a veteran of World War I and was a member of WWI Veterans of Foreign Wars, Barracks 389.
He was born March 25, 1895, in Indian Territory (Oklahoma) to William Henry Tedford and Disa Ann Brice Tedford. Tedford and the former Lorene Powers were married Feb. 13, 1954, in Clovis, NM.
The wife, Mrs. Lorene Tedford, is among survivors. Other survivors include: three sons, William Doyle Tedford of Montclair, Calif., Teddy Ray, with the U.S. Navy stationed in San Diego, Calif., and Dale Tedford of Crosbyton; two stepsons, Duane Johnson of Crosbyton and Jerry Johnson of Idalou; two daughters, Mrs. Juanita Fickel and Mrs. Lenora Pack, both of Waco; one step-daughter, Louise Thomason of Abernathy; 26 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.
