Melba Spurgin photoMelba Fern Spurgin, 78, of Lubbock went to be with her Lord on August 21, 2015. She was born on November 2, 1936 to Ernest and Maurine (Meek) Wallace in Ralls, Texas. Melba graduated in 1955 from Crosbyton High School, where she was a head cheerleader, football queen and played basketball. Melba had a love for sports and would travel across the state to attend games. In June of 1956, she married the love of her life Kay Don Spurgin in Lubbock, Texas. She loved her family dearly and treasured her time with them.

She is survived by her husband Kay Don Spurgin of Lubbock; two daughters; Kathy Lowrie and husband Jeff of Crosbyton; Sherry Ratheal and husband Steve of Albuquerque, NM.; five grandchildren; Brandi Wheeless and husband Beau, Amber Lester and husband Chris, Trevor Harris and wife Katy, Chris Ratheal and wife Sarah, Jeff Ratheal, and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Crosbyton, with Rev. Jim Brown officiating and Rev. Duane McClure assisting. Burial will follow in the Crosbyton Cemetery under the care of Adams Funeral Home. A visitation will be held Monday, August 24th from 6-7 PM at Adams Funeral Home in Crosbyton.
