Obituary

Funeral services for Mrs. Sep Smith, who had been a resident of Crosbyton for 50 years, were held at 10 a.m. Monday in the First Methodist Church. Rev. Carlton Thomson, pastor, officiated, and burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of King Funeral Home.

Mrs. Smith died in Baptist Memorial Geriatrics Hospital in San Angelo at 9 a.m. Saturday. She had been a patient in the hospital for 2 1/2 years.

The wife of an early day banker businessman landowner, Mrs. Smith was born in Towash, Hill County. The Smiths moved to Crosbyton in 1911, where Mr. Smith died in 1937. His landholdings were located south of Crosbyton, and the Smith community which once boasted two stores, a school and two churches, bore his name.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Mary Taylor, Lubbock, Mrs. Ruth Chase and Mrs. N.K. Dupree, both of Pasadena, and Mrs. Ray Arnold, San Antonio; five grandchildren, a great grandchild, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Hedge, San Antonio.
