Obituary

Mrs. Jesse May Smith, 83, a pioneer of the West Texas area, died about 4:30 a.m. Saturday in the Crosbyton hospital.

Services were held at 3 p.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Stewart, pastor, officiating.

Burial was in the Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of King Funeral Home.

A native of Erath County, Mrs. Smith moved to Crosby County in 1906 and lived in a half dugout house. She was a member of the First Baptist Church here.

Survivors include three sons, J.C. Smith of Crosbyton, Frank Smith of Hereford and Edgar Smith of Big Spring; two daughters, Mrs. J.B. Stotts of Ralls and Mrs. J.T. Herrod of Taft, CA; two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Smith of Crosbyton and Mrs. Martie Shipman of Tulsa; a brother, Ed Collier of Hollywood FL; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
