Geraldine S. Smith of Crosbyton lost a lengthy battle against illness when she succumbed Saturday afternoon in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital. Mrs. Smith was 49.
Memorial services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church. The Rev. Bobby Rine, pastor, officiated and was assisted by the Rev. Roddy Simmons of Lubbock.
Interment was made in Crosbyton Cemetery, under direction of Adams Funeral Home. Nephews served as pallbearers.
An Idalou native, the former Geraldine Suttle had been a Crosbyton area resident most of her life. She and Wendal (Bluie) Smith were married Feb. 22, 1956, in Crosbyton.
Mrs. Smith was a Baptist.
She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Dena of Lubbock and Karen of Kansas City, KS; three brothers, Carroll Suttle of Houston, F.E. Suttle of Bangs and Howard Suttle of Amarillo; three sisters, Mrs. J.C. Pettijon of Stephenville and Zeffa Robinett and Cora Mae Simpson, both of Crosbyton.

Services for Wendal Eldon "Bluey" Smith, 79, of Crosbyton will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Crosbyton with Rev. Jesse Gillham officiating. Burial will follow in the Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.
Bluey passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at the Crosbyton Hospital. He was born on June 18, 1930 in Crosby County to the late Clarence Charles and Mabel (Fowler) Smith. On February 22, 1956, he married Geraldine Suttle in Crosbyton. She preceded him in death on May 1, 1982.
Bluey was a farmer and member of the Crosbyton First Baptist Church. He lived in Crosby County all of his life and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Wildon M. "Brownie" Smith; and two sisters, April Raye Smith and Mary Beth Carr.
Survivors include his two daughters, Karen Kazak and husband John of Strabane, Pa. and Dena Smith of Canonsburg, Pa.; a brother, Royce Smith of Crosbyton; and a sister, Clarice Shaw of Leander.
The family will receive friends this evening from 5 to 6 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Crosbyton.
