Funeral services for C.O. Smith, 75, were held at 2 p.m. Monday in King Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Otis Testerman, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating.
Smith died Saturday afternoon at Methodist Hospital in Lubbock. Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery.
Born January 1, 1888 at Evant in Coryell county, Smith attended school there. The family lived in East Texas awhile, then moved to Abilene. Smith attended barber college,then became a restaurant cook, an art he practiced until his retirement in 1953. He had lived in Crosbyton 20 years.
One of Crosby County Library´s avid readers, he had read everything in the local branch´s section of history and biographies.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Rufus Byers, Vernon and Dr. A.L. Wood, Lubbock, and a brother, S.E. Smith, Vernon.
