Charles Price Smith was born April 4, 1887 in Lamar Co., TX. He died November 21, 1966 in Crosbyton, TX. He married 16 year old Anna Josephine Elmore in Roby, TX on October 24, 1908.They had four children: Irene Mavinee Smith who married George Wiedeman, Joe Thomas Smith who married Minnie Lee Waldren, Pat Raymond Smith who married Zora Novelle Witt and Helen Frances Smith who died at age two years old.
Price, as his family called him, was a farmer in Crosby Co. For a short time before World War II they lived in Hockley Co. and farmed. During World War II Price and Anna moved to California along with their grown children and their families. The men all worked at the Lockheed Aircraft Company making airplanes for the war effort. After the War they were eager to return home where Price retired. They lived on N. Berkshire Street in Crosbyton, Texas.
Price and Anna were Baptists and enjoyed the fellowship with friends at the church.
Price was the son of Charles Pinkney Smith and Saphronia Ann Finch Smith of Anson, TX. He had two sisters and one brother who preceded him in death. They were: Virginia Cornella "Nealy" Smith (Mrs. William Decker), Thomas Lafayette Smith and Ella Smith (Mrs. John Loller). His dear wife, Anna, also died two years before him.
Price suffered a devastating stroke about two years before his death. Anna lovingly took care of him until a week before she died.

Mrs. Anna Josephine Smith, 73, longtime Crosby County resident, died at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in West Texas Hospital, Lubbock. She had been ill about a week.Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Crosbyton First Baptist Church, the Rev. Otis Testerman officiating. Burial will be in Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of King Funeral Home.
Born in Louisiana, she came to Crosby County in 1912.
Survivors include the husband, Price Smith; a daughter, Mrs. George Wiedeman, Lubbock; two sons, Joe of Lubbock and Pat, Ardmore, Okla.; two sisters, Mrs. Olena Martin, Lubbock, and Mrs. John Burns, Snyder; six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
