Bennie Smith photoServices for Bennie Ferrin Smith, 86, of Crosbyton were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, 1990, in Crosbyton´s First Baptist Church with the Rev. Les Griffin, pastor, officiating.

Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home.

He died at 9:50 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 1990, in the Crosbyton Clinic Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Smith was born in Panola County and moved to Crosbyton in 1923. He married Velma Robertson on Dec. 19, 1923, in Crosbyton. He was a member of Crosbyton First Baptist Church and the Downtown Bible Class. He was a farmer and a co-partner of M System Grocery until 1950, when he bought Modern Foods. He also worked at George´s Supermarket.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Willie of Crosbyton; four brothers, Claude of Carthage, J. Marvin and Curtis, both of Houston, and Thomas of Gary; three sisters, Eunice Hurst, of Pasadena, Calif., and Elma Lewis, of Deer Park, TX, and Kathleen Heaton of Carthage; four grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

CROSBYTON (Special) — Services for Velma Olivia Smith, 86, of Crosbyton will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Les Griffin, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home.

Mrs. Smith died at 4:11 a.m. Monday in Lubbock´s Methodist Hospital after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Panola County and moved to Crosby County in 1923. She married Ferrin "Bennie" Smith on Dec. 19, 1923, in Crosbyton. He died on Sept. 7, 1990. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Willie of Crosbyton; four grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
