A Crosby County resident for over 70 years, Mrs. Belzora Martin Smith, succumbed about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, in Crosbyton Care Center. She had experienced a lengthy illness.She was 87.
Memorial services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church in Crosbyton. The Rev. Bobby Rine, pastor, and the Rev. Wayland Boyd of Eunice, NM officiated.
Interment was made in Crosbyton Cemetery, under direction of Adams Funeral Home.
Belzora Martin was born June 22, 1890 in Itasca, TX. She moved to Crosby County in 1906 from Itasca.
In 1911, the former Miss Martin was married to Clifford Dawson Smith in Crosby County. Mr. Smith preceded his wife in death on April 28, 1940.
Mrs. Smith was a member of First Baptist Church in Crosbyton.
She is survived by one son, Lynn T. (Rabbit) Smith of Crosbyton; three sisters, Mrs. Betty Alexander and Mrs. John Crump, both of Crosbyton, and Mrs. Fred McDermett of Pueblo, Colo.; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
A daughter, Mrs. Wanda Hayley, preceded her mother in death on May 13, 1966.
