Obituary

Services for Lawrence Simmons, 84, of Lubbock were held at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 1989 in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Border, pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Lubbock, officiating.

Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home.

He died early Friday morning October 20, 1989 at his residence.

He was born in Whitney and moved from Crosbyton to Lubbock in 1953. He married Jessie Marie Nickson on April 15, 1942, in Sweetwater. He was in the trucking business until retiring in 1974. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 1020, a former member of the Lions Club, a former deacon of Chapel Hills Baptist Church and a member of Faith Baptist Church. A son, Lawrence Jr., died in 1957.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Bill of Shallowater, a stepson, Jack Davis of Lubbock; two brothers, A.P. of Houston and E.H. of Yucca Valley, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
