Funeral rites for Willie R. Shipman were conducted at 2 p.m. last Thursday in the Asbury United Methodist Church in Lubbock.

The Rev. James T. Carter, pastor of Asbury United Methodist Church conducted the memorial service, assisted by the Rev. Carl Nunn, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Tulia.

Burial was made in Crosbyton Cemetery, under direction of Sanders Funeral Home of Lubbock.

Mr. Shipman, 71, died Tuesday, April 22, in West Texas Hospital in Lubbock. He resided at 4429 28th in Lubbock and had been a resident of that city for two months. He had been in ill health for several months.

The deceased was the father of Eddie Shipman of Crosbyton. A retired cotton ginner, he lived in Tulia before moving to Lubbock.

He was born in Abilene.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn; two sons, Bill of Casper, Wyoming, and Eddie of Crosbyton; two daughters, Mrs. Bill West of Lubbock and Mrs. Jack Thompson of Dimmitt; three sisters, Mrs. Winnie Elder of Perryton, Mrs. Viola Browning of Borger and Mrs. Lenora Backman of Wilson; 13 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
