Josie Lorene Robertson, a resident of the South Plains area since 1928, was claimed by death at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital. Mrs. Robertson, 82, had been hospitalized since Jan. 12.She and her husband, Charlie W. Robertson, observed their 60th wedding anniversary Jan. 4.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. today (Thursday) at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jim Lott, pastor of the College Heights Baptist Church in Lubbock, is to officiate, assisted by the Rev. Johnnie Williams, pastor of the local church.
Interment will be in Crosbyton Cemetery, under direction of Adams Funeral Home.
The former Josie Lorene Powell was born May 13, 1897, in Haskell. She and Charlie W. Robertson were married Jan. 4, 1920, in Haskell.
The Charlie Robertson family and his brother, Edd Robertson, came to this area to farm in 1928. They resided in the Mt. Blanco and Owens communities before moving to Ralls in 1942. They had resided in Crosbyton since 1948.
Mr. Robertson celebrated his 97th birthday last Sept. 28. He is among survivors.
Other survivors include one son, Emery Robertson of Lubbock; four daughters, Mrs. Roy Matthews of Sunray, Mrs. Gene Johnson of Crosbyton, Mrs. Fred Haney and Mr. Maye Parks, both of Lubbock; two brothers, Henry Powell of Borger and Walter Powell of Tyler; two sisters, Mrs. Eulla Free of Haskell and Mrs. Hazel Walters of Bridgeport; 11 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
