Obituary

Services for Julia Mae Reed, 77, of 3406 54th St. will be at 10 a.m. today in Ford Memorial Chapel at First Baptist Church with the Rev. J.T. Bolding, a retired Baptist minister, officiating.

Burial will be in Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home of Lubbock.

Mrs. Reed died at 1:45 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary of the Plains Hospital after a lengthy illness.

The Emma native married Elmer J. Reed Sr. June 14, 1924, in Crosbyton. She attended Mary Hardin-Baylor College in Belton and had been a Lubbock resident since 1935. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and superintendent.

Survivors include her husband, a son, Elmer J. Jr. of Lubbock; a daughter, Mrs. Ramon (Beth) Johnston of Crosbyton; four sisters, Ruby Parks of Lubbock; Frances Slaybaugh of Amarillo, Jean Lemley of Crosbyton and Cathryn Blackwood of Dallas; six grandchildren and a great grandson.
