  Avis Leon (Amo) Reed, a nephew and cousin of several Crosbyton residents, was found dead Thursday at his lake home near Seymour. Death was attributed to a heart ailment.

He was 67.

Memorial services were at 3 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Crosbyton. The Rev. Sylvester Moore, pastor of First Baptist Church in Anton, officiated.

Interment was made in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home. Burial was near the graves of his parents.

A Jacksboro native, Mr. Reed served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He held membership in the Seymour Veterans of Foreign Wars post.

He lived in Crosbyton with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Leon Reed, through the 30s and moved form Idalou to Seymour. He was known locally as Amo Reed.

Survivors include two brothers, John Henry Reed of Dimmitt and Kenneth Reed of Idalou; and two sisters, Ayleen Kendrick of Ralls and Laura Ola Hooper of Anton.

Mr. Reed was a nephew of Naomi Wheeler and Goldie Brown, both of Crosbyton.
