U.S.Flag Memorial services for Frances Herrod Rautis, 91, of Amarillo, were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Apr. 11, 2002, at Crosbyton Cemetery with Rev. Daniel Echols officiating.

Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.

She died Tuesday, Apr. 9, 2002, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Amarillo.

She was born Dec. 20, 1910, in Carrollton, MS. She married Thomas T. Easter in 1943. He died in 1960. She then married John F. Rautis in 1989. He died in 1996.

She was the daughter of Sam T. Herrod and Mattye Tom Eubank Herrod. The family moved to Texas in March of 1911. She graduated from Crosbyton High School. in 1929. She attended Texas Tech University and was a school teacher in rural Texas in the early 1930´s. She worked for the federal government in Crosbyton, the State of Texas in Lubbock, the City of Los Angeles, and the State of California in Indio, CA. She served in the military in the Women´s Army Corps (WAC) in 1942 and 1943.

Survivors include three nephews, J.T. Herrod of Fallon, NV, Sam Herrod of Baton Rouge, LA, and Doug Herrod of Atlanta, GA; two nieces, Sheila DeRowen, Eunice, LA, and Sandy Ranson of Matthews, NC.
