Richard Tine Proctor, a longtime and well known Crosbyton businessman and farmer, was claimed by death at 1:50 a.m. last Thursday in Methodist Hospital in Lubbock. Mr. Proctor, 76, had been ill for a lengthy period of time.
He was a farmer and in the grocer business in Crosbyton from 1927 until 1965. Prior to his retirement Sept. 1, 1965, Proctor had been in partnership with Bennie Smith in Modern Food since June 1, 1936.
Memorial rites were at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church of Crosbyton. Officiating were the Rev. Bobby Rine, pastor, and the Rev. Ted Brian, retired Baptist pastor from Crosbyton.
Burial was made in Crosbyton Cemetery, under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.
Richard Tine Proctor was born Aug. 22, 1905, in Bowie. He and the former Erma Mae Morton were married Aug. 26, 1928, in Crosbyton.
Mr. Proctor moved to Crosbyton Sept. 21, 1922, from Bowie.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Crosbyton and was an active member of the Downtown Bible Class.
Survivors include his wife, Erma Mae; one son, Amon Proctor of Lubbock; five sisters, Irene Allen, Lela Williams, Opal Clark, and Dorothy Proctor, all of San Antonio, and Pauline Reynolds of Lytle; two grandsons, Dewayne and Mark Proctor, both of Lubbock.

Services for Erma Proctor, 92, of Crosbyton were at 2 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2001, at Crosbyton First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Proctor and Dewayne Proctor officiating and the Rev. Lester B. Griffin assisting.
Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.
She died Friday, May 4, 2001, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
She was born Aug. 1, 1908, in Howland (Lamar County), TX.
She married Richard Proctor on Aug. 26, 1928, in Crosbyton, TX. He died Oct. 29, 1981.
She was a member of Crosbyton First Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and moved to Crosbyton in 1915 from Howland, TX.
She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Dustin Proctor who died May 4, 1994.
Survivors include one son, Amon Proctor and his wife, Jerri, of Lubbock; two grandsons, Dewayne Proctor of Lubbock and Mark Proctor of Lubbock; and six great-grandchildren.
