U.S.Flag   Services for Hersel E. Powell, 76, of Lubbock will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 1990, in Resthaven Funeral Home chapel with George Johnson, an elder with Primitive Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

He died at 8:02 p.m. Monday in Methodist Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Farmersville and in 1945 moved from Floyd County to the Lubbock area, where he farmed for several years. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. He married Laverne Burleson March 26, 1965, in Lovington, NM. He was a Baptist and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife ; a son, Tony of Lubbock; a stepson, Clint Whittle of Lubbock; two stepdaughters, Carol Whittle of Lubbock and Sandra Klovstad of Fort Worth; two sisters, Queen Annie Lawson of Floydada and Gladys Herman of Muleshoe; and four grandchildren.
