U.S.Flag Services for Gene Pierce, 73, of Crosbyton were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004 at the Crosbyton First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rob Kelley and Rev. Patrick Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton. He died Monday, February 2, 2004 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.

He was born on October 4, 1930 at Mt. Blanco to Otis and Choicy Williams Pierce. He married Vera Upchurch on September 9, 1983 in Crosby County. He was a 1948 graduate of Crosbyton High School and a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Crosbyton First United Methodist Church and a welder. He moved to Houston from Crosbyton in 1992 and moved back to Crosbyton in 1996.

Survivors include a wife, Vera Pierce; a son, Jim Pierce of Friendswood, TX; two daughters, Carolyn Bowren of Wichita, KS; Teri Forbes of Lubbock; a stepson, Tommy Reese of Buffalo, TX; two stepdaughters: Judy Edwards of Lubbock and Linda Wheeler of Crosbyton; a brother, Jack Pierce of Lubbock; a sister, Janice Robinett of Lubbock, 11 grandchildren: Lauren Pierce, Lee Pierce, Tyler James, Kristen James, Rylie Forbes, Lacye Escamilla, David Jolly, Monica Wright, Brad Reese, Marisha Richard and Rebecca Wheeler, and 2 great grandchildren: Tori Wheeler and Kyler Jolly.

Pallbearers will be Tom Ancell, Jim Justus, Orvin Ellis, Allen Crausbay, Frank Knox Moore, and Chad Ehler.
