Modie PhillipsFamily and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Modie Phillips, 88, of Lubbock this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, 2011 in the Crosbyton Cemetery. Our beloved Modie went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011.

Modie was born on Aug. 31, 1923 to the late Mack and Elizabeth (Irwin) Ellison in Crosbyton. She graduated from Carlton High School and worked at Dublin National Bank, Dublin. Moving to Lubbock Modie worked as a teller for Citizens Bank and then for Plains Capital Bank until her retirement. She married Bill Phillips on June 30, 1966 in Dimmitt. Bill and Modie loved to travel, taking numerous cruises, and camping. She was of the Baptist faith.

Along with her parents, Modie was preceded in death by her four brothers, Frank, Edwin, Henry and Donald Ellison.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Bill; five nieces, Nelda Armstong, Twila Aufill, Sandra Witt, Kathy Massey all of Lubbock and Judy Parks of McKinney ; a nephew, Dewey Ellison of Waco; a sister-in-law, Mary Ellison of Lubbock; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Our deepest gratitude goes to the staff of MacKenzie House and VistaCare Hospice for your care and love to Modie in these last months and days.

Memorials are suggested to your favorite charity.
