Funeral services for Pearl Durene Brown Phelps, 74, of the Hurlwood Community near Lubbock, were held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 14, 1988, at the Parkway Drive Baptist Church in Lubbock. Officiating was Rev. Wayne R. Williams, pastor. Interment was in Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.

Mrs. Phelps was found dead Friday, March 11, 1988, at her home in the Hurlwood community near Lubbock. Justice of the Peace Grady Brooke of Wolfforth estimated her time of death as late Thursday, and ruled the death due to natural causes.

Mrs. Phelps was a native of Fannin County, and had lived in Wolfe City, Texas, prior to moving to Lubbock in 1959. She was a retired nurse´s aide, and was a Baptist.

Her survivors include: Five sons: David Phelps and Charles Brown of Midland; Wilbert Brown of Booker, Texas; Cody Brown and Arnold Phelps of Lubbock; Two daughters: Selma Stepp of Brighton, Colorado and Fredia Sneed of Hurlwood, Texas; One brother, O.C. Brown of Snyder; One sister, Darlene Moore o Dallas; 24 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.
