U.S.Flag  Clayton Perry LUBBOCK — Funeral services for Clayton W. Rover Perry of Lubbock will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Monterey Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Riley, associate minister, and Chaplain Paul Miller, of Interim Hospice, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors. Visitation for Mr. Perry will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Rix Funeral Directors. Mr. Perry went to be with the Lord on Thursday at his residence.

He was born on Nov. 11, 1934, in McAdoo, Texas, to Cecil and Gladys (Wells) Perry. He lived in Dickens County from 1949 to 1954 and graduated from the Patton Springs High School. He married Melba J. Dawson in Afton, Texas, on Dec. 14, 1956. He moved to Lubbock in 1954 and worked for the Texas State Department of Highways and Public Transportation, retiring in 1989 after 35 years with the state. He was a member of the Monterey Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Antique Tractor Club and was a volunteer at the Agriculture Museum for five years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from March of 1957 to March of 1959.

His parents; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; and his special friend and pet, Ginger, preceded him in death.

Mr. Perry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Melba; son, Mark and Thelma Perry of Lubbock; daughter, Cheryl and James Kendall; five grandchildren, Justin Kendall, Amber Mixon, Josh Freeman, B.J. Dorman and Amie Kendall; and seven great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express a special thank-you to the staff of Interim Hospice, and especially to Sherrie, Laretta and Phyllis. Memorials may be made to the Monterey Baptist Church Building Fund, Interim Hospice, or to the Agriculture Museum in Lubbock.
