Robert Habner (Bob) Perkins, a well known Crosbyton farmer and civic and church leader, was claimed by death at 3:20 a.m. Saturday in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital. He had entered the hospital the previous day.
Mr. Perkins was 64.
Memorial services were at 3 p.m. Sunday in First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Johnnie Williams, a retired Methodist pastor from Lubbock, officiated and was assisted by the Rev. Al Jennings, local pastor.
Private graveside services were in Crosbyton Cemetery.
Adams Funeral Home directed arrangements.
A veteran of World War II, Mr. Perkins served on the Board of Stewards of First United Methodist Church, was a former trustee on the local school board, served on the board of directors of West Texas Gin and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and White River Sportsman Club. He was an active supporter of Boy Scouts and other civic organizations.
He served as an aviation cadet with the U.S. Army Air Corps, entering the military on April 28, 1942. He was commissioned as a captain.
The former Jane Huddleston and Bob Perkins were married June 29, 1943, in Crosbyton.
Mr. Perkins was born Nov. 20, 1920, in Chicago, Ill.
Survivors include his wife, Jane; one son, Robert Charles (Chuck) Perkins of Fargo, ND; one daughter, Linda Sue (Susie) Moore of Lubbock; one brother, Don L.[Lamar] Perkins of Indianapolis, Ind.; and three grandchildren.
