Obituary

Following a prolonged illness, Mrs. Elsie May Payne was claimed by death about 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital. She was 60.

Mrs. Payne resided at 422 South Ayshire.

Rev. Leonard Sims of Matador and Rev. Stanley Nixon, pastor of Pansy Baptist Church, conducted funeral services at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church.

King Funeral Home directed burial in Crosbyton Cemetery.

The former Elsie May Callihan was born August 17, 1913, at McAdoo. A member of First Baptist Church, she worked for Sears for 25 years before moving to Crosbyton in November 1970 from San Antonio.

Her husband, Quinton G. Payne, preceded her in death in September of 1956.

Mrs. Payne is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John S. Callihan of Springdale, Ark., and Orvin Callihan of Lubbock; two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Pipkin of Smithville and Mrs. Jewell Burrows of McAdoo.
