Obituary

Funeral services for G.O. Paudler, 70, were held at 3 p.m. yesterday, Wednesday, in the First Methodist Church. Rev. Carlton Thomson, pastor, officiated, assisted by Thomas Compton, Church of Christ minister.

Mr. Paudler, one of the few remaining early day settlers who came to the Crosbyton area soon after the town´s founding, died of a heart attack about 12:45 p.m. Monday. He had been working on a door at his warehouse on Avenue B when he had the attack. He was pronounced dead when a physician arrived about 10 minutes after his body was discovered.

Born in Wisconsin, Paudler came to Crosby county in 1914, settling on a farm southeast of the city. Besides his farming interests, he had operated businesses in Crosbyton and was a former pilot and plane owner. At one time he owned a chain of several hundred peanut and chewing gum machines which covered this area.

Paudler constructed and operated the first airfield in Crosby County just east of Crosbyton. At one time more than 20 planes were housed in his hangers there. He was a partner in the first crop dusting business in the county.

He was a long time member of the Methodist Church, having served for many years as both steward and trustee. He was a former member of both Crosbyton Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce, and attended Lions International Convention when held in Mexico City a number of years ago.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jack Hash, Crosbyton; two sisters, Mrs. John Tietze, Coon Valley, Wisc., and Mrs. William Tietze, La Crosse, Wisc.; a brother, Frank Paudler, La Crosse, and two grandchildren.

Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery with King Funeral Home in charge.
