Obituary

Crosby County lost one of her old-timers about 5 a.m. Monday when Mrs. Ira Paschall was claimed by death in the Abilene home of a daughter, Aliece Porterfield. Mrs. Paschall had been a resident of this county 64 years. She was 85.

Memorial rites were at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church, Lorenzo. Officiating were the Rev. Sidney Parsley, pastor, and the Rev. Johnnie Williams, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Crosbyton.

Interment was made in the family plot at Crosbyton Cemetery, near the graves of her husband and a son. Carter-Adams Funeral Home directed arrangements.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Mrs. Paschall´s home was 2 1/2 miles north of Lorenzo, where the family moved in 1938.

The Paschall family resided on the East Plains for a number of years after moving to Crosby County in 1915 from Wise county.

Mrs. Paschall, the former Ira Nash, was born Nov. 27, 1893 in Parker County. She was married to Richard Anderson Paschall Sr. while the couple was seated in a buggy near Agnes, Feb. 28, 1909.

Mr. Paschall preceded his wife in death Nov. 29, 1974. A son, Lyle, died in 1949.

A member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter in Crosbyton, Mrs. Paschall also was a member of the Methodist Church, Lorenzo Garden Club and Lorenzo Senior Citizens.

She is survived by one son, R.A. Paschall Jr. of Lorenzo; two daughters, Jewel McElroy of Crosbyton and Aliece Porterfield of Abilene; two brothers, Dewey Nash of Ryan, Okla., and Vernon Nash of Chickasha, Okla.; two sisters, Jannah Hutcheson of Springtown and Mrs. C.N. Hancock of Midland; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
