RALLS (Special) - Services for Wayne J. Parker, 53, of Ralls will be at 4 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Floyd Haddock, pastor of First Baptist Church in Manvel, officiating.

The Rev. Jim Morrow, pastor of First Baptist Church of Ralls and Joe Stetthimer and Dennis May, both of Lubbock, will assist.

Burial will be in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

Parker was pronounced dead at 5:37 p.m. Wednesday in Lubbock´s St. Mary of the Plains Hospital after a sudden illness.

He was born in Spur and married Alice Faye Beck on Aug. 22, 1958, in Lubbock. He was a longtime resident of Crosby County, where he farmed and ranched. He graduated from Crosbyton High School and West Texas State University, where he had been a member of the football team. While in Canyon, he worked for the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum.

Parker had been named "Most Outstanding Historical Committee Member of Archaeology in Texas" in 1971 and to "Who´s Who in Indian Relics" in 1976. He had written and published numerous articles about Indian relics and was on the staff of the Artifacts Society of Ohio. He was an Eagle Scout and had received the National Court of Honor Life Saving Award for Heroism in 1955.

Survivors include his wife; a son, J. Rhett Parker of Ralls; two daughters, Becky Tidwell of New Deal and Scarlet Cargile of Ralls; and eight grandchildren.
