Biography

MORDECAI ODOM (WILLIAM B.³, WILLIAM ², WILLIAM ¹) was born January 01, 1880 in AL, and died August 27, 1959 in Crosbyton, Crosby Co., TX. He married (1) NORA GRIFFIN. She died in possibly in Collin Co., TX. He married (2) IDA MAE BATES, daughter of W.E. BATES and ELIZABETH WATTS. She was born May 30, 1896, and died February 23, 1948

Obituary

Funeral services for M.O. Odom, 79, were held in the First Baptist Church at 10:30 a.m. Monday. Rev. Wayland Boyd, pastor, officiated and was assisted by Rev. Virgil Chron, Cone Baptist pastor.

Odom died at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital following a long illness.

First coming to Crosby County in 1926, he first moved to Texas when 2 years old. He resided 4 miles north of Crosbyton in the Big Four Community.

Survivors include five daughters: Mrs. Allen Mize, Crosbyton; Mrs. Willard Moses, Ralls; Mrs. O.W. Richardson, Lamesa; Mrs. Alton Ainsworth, Bledsoe; Mrs. Allie O´Brian, Paris.

Four sons: W.C. and Griffin, Crosbyton; Francis, Big Lake, and James (Dutch), Fort Worth; 22 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren

Burial was in Crosbyton cemetery. King Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
