Obituary

Carl Nickson, a Crosbyton resident almost half a century, was claimed by death at 3 p.m. Friday in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital following a prolonged illness, Mr. Nickson was 85.

Memorial rites were at 2 p.m. Sunday in First Baptist Church. Officiating were the Rev. Bobby Rine, pastor, and Glen Gray, minister of the Church of Christ.

Crosbyton Masonic Lodge #1020 conducted Masonic graveside services at Crosbyton Cemetery. Adams Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Nickson was born Sept. 13, 1897 in Willow Point, TX, and moved to Crosbyton in 1933 from Tahoka.

He and Myrtle Murphy were married on Dec. 26, 1949, in Clovis, NM.

A veteran of World War I, Mr. Nickson was a mechanic and a member of Masonic Lodge #1020.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. A.L. (Bette) Williams of San Angelo; a step-son, Dale Murphy of Lubbock; a sister, Jessie Simmons of Lubbock; eight grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

A daughter, Frances Steen, and a brother, Bill Nickson, preceded him in death.
