Obituary

Memorial services for Herman Lee Morris, 72, of McAdoo, were conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Stanley Nixon, pastor of Parkview Baptist Church in Plainview, the Rev. Joe Perkins, pastor of Pansy Baptist Church, and the Rev. Bobby Rine, pastor of First Baptist Church in Crosbyton, officiated.

Interment was made in Crosbyton Cemetery, under direction of King Funeral Home.

Mr. Morris died Monday night in Methodist Hospital in Lubbock. He reportedly became ill as he and his wife were in Ralls about 5 p.m. Monday. The longtime McAdoo resident was brought to Crosbyton Clinic Hospital and then was transferred to the Lubbock hospital by Crosbyton Ambulance Service.

Mr. Morris underwent emergency surgery in Lubbock. He came out of surgery but succumbed later that night.

Born March 9, 1903 in Coleman County, Tex., Herman Lee Morris was married to the former Mabel Robinett July 12, 1921, in Crosbyton.

He came to Kalgary when he was about 15 years of age. In 1947 the Morris family moved to McAdoo from Kalgary.

Mr. Morris was a member of the Pansy Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and taught the Bible for several years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Spur Lodge.

He retired from farming approximately 10 years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel; three daughters, Mrs. Waldo Havens of Crosbyton, Mrs. Billy Webster of McAdoo and Mrs. Ricky Edwards of Tahoka; five brothers, Lloyd Morris of Kermit, H. E. Morris of Lubbock, M. B. Morris of Children, J. R. Morris of Wolfforth, and G. B. Morris of Crosbyton; three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Byars of Crosbyton, Mrs. Louise Hill of Lubbock, and Mrs. Esta Rae Schaefer of Arlington; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
