O.D. Moore photoO.D. Moore of Crosbyton passed away on June 20, 2011, at the age of 78. Born Sept. 1, 1932, in Crosby County, Don started first grade at Webb School on the East Plains. He was named Wheat King in 1944, received the American Farmer degree presented by President Truman in 1950, and served as president of Crosby County Fuel. He was also a founding member, volunteer and board member of Hospice of Lubbock, and a big supporter and fan of Texas Tech Lady Raiders Basketball. Don farmed in Crosby County at McCoy, Cone and Wake. He was a Christian, member of the Samaritan class and First Baptist Church of Lubbock.

He was preceded in death by one son, Danny Moore.

He is survived by his wife, Sue; son, DeWayne Moore of Atlanta; daughter, Pamala Reed of Allen; stepsons, Dane Gentry of Crosbyton and Derek Gentry of Lubbock; grandsons, David Lowrie of Atlanta and Shane Gentry of Crosbyton; granddaughter, Isabella Moore of Atlanta; and sister, Emma Jean Edinburgh of Crosbyton.

A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, June 24th, in First Baptist Church, Ford Chapel in Lubbock. The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Lubbock, PO Box 16800, Lubbock, TX 79490, or Lady Raiders Scholarship Fund, 1701 Indiana Avenue, MS 2210, Lubbock, TX 79409.
