Biography

Jeannie Mae Ratheal was born on November 24, 1908, in Jones County, Texas, her father, Walter Perry Ratheal, was 27 and her mother, Emma Daisy Bradbury, was 25. Ola Kirkland Moore was born on June 9, 1907, in Benton County, Arkansas. Ola and Jennie were married O on December 14, 1930, in Dickens, Texas Jennie was 22 yrs of age and Ola was 23. They had two children during their marriage. Jennie died on September 29, 2002, in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 93, Ola died on December 22, 1987, in Crosbyton, Texas, at the age of 80, both are buried in Crosbyton Cemetery, Crosbyton, Texas.

Obituary

Services for Ola Kirkland Moore, 80, of Crosbyton were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 24th, 1987 in the Crosbyton First Baptist Church with Dr. Lester B. Griffin, pastor and Dr. C. Melvin Ratheal of Sun City, Arizona officiating.

Burial followed in the Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home.

Mr. Moore died about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 1987, in Lubbock´s Methodist Hospital following a short illness.

He was born June 9, 1907 in Benton County, Arkansas and married Jeannie Ratheal December 14, 1930 in Dickens. He was a farmer and moved to Crosby County November 23, 1926 from Hot Springs, Arkansas.

He was a member of the Crosbyton First Baptist Church and the Downtown Bible Class. He was a former member of the Crosbyton School Board, McAdoo Co-op Gin, Plains Co-op Oil Mill and Lubbock Co-op Compress.

Survivors include: his wife, Jeannie Moore of Crosbyton; 1 son, O. Donville Moore of Crosbyton; 1 daughter, Emma Jean Edinburgh of Crosbyton; 3 brothers, Arvis Moore of Crosbyton, Doyle Moore of Floydada, Reed L. Moore of Ralls; 2 sisters, Gertie Ratheal and Bonnie Lee Flemins, both of Crosbyton; 4 grandchildren, DeWayne Moore, Pam Reed, Debbie Stegall, Kirk Edinburgh; 3 great grandchildren, David Lowrie, Rhonda Stegall, Heather Stegall.

Active Pallbearers: Grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers: Nephews.

Graveside services for Jeannie Moore, 93, of Crosbyton were held at 3 p.m. Monday, Sept 30, 2002, at Crosbyton Cemetery with the Rev. Melvin Ratheal officiating and Rev. Les Griffin assisting.

Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.

She died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at Wedgewood South in Lubbock.

She was born Nov. 24, 1908, in Jones County, TX.

She married Ola Kirkland Moore on Dec. 14, 1930, in Dickens, TX. He died Dec. 22, 1987.

She was a member of the Crosbyton First Baptist Church since 1964. She was a long-time member of the Pansy Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school. She was a homemaker. She was a former 4-H leader, a room mother and a seamstress. She lived most of her life in Crosbyton.

She is preceded in death by two grandchildren, Danny Moore in 1972 and Debby Edinburgh Stegall in 2000.

Survivors include one son, Donville Moore of Crosbyton; one daughter, Emma Jean Edinburgh of Crosbyton; three grandchildren, Captain Kirk Edinburgh, Dr. Pam Reed and Dr. DeWayne Moore; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
