Biography

Edith Moore was born February 22, 1905 to C.E. and Emily Dick of Eastland County.

She attended Simmons College and Drayers Business College in Abilene, Texas.

Edieth married the love of her life, Frank Moore in June of 1939 and moved to Crosbyton. She has never left.

Edieth and Frank had three sons; Frank Knox of Crosbyton; Charles Henry of Corpus Christi; and Larry Michael of San Antonio.

Frank passed away May 3, 1978 and Edith has lived independently every since.

Her granddaughter, Paige once wondered why her gandmother ha dlived so long and never had a worry; Edith replied with, "I had a perfect family so I did not have to worry!"

Edith just celebrated her 99th Birthday and can't wait for her next. She said, "I love life and am looking forward to my next birthday."

She continued by saying, "I have many friends that are so good to me and this is why I am still here."

Edith concluded, "God has been so good to me, that is the most wonderful blessing of my life!"

Obituary

Memorial services for Henry Franklin (Frank) Moore, member of a well-known early Crosby County family and a resident of this community for 52 years, were at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church. The Rev. Bobby Rine, pastor, and Dr. Floyd Bradley, pastor of First Baptist Church in Floydada, officiated.

Interment followed in Crosbyton Cemetery.. Adams Funeral Home directed arrangements.

Mr. Moore was 69. He and his wife resided at 616 South Harrison.

Frank Moore died at 8:30 a.m. last Wednesday, May 3, in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital shortly after reaching the hospital. Death was attributed to a heart attack.

Born Nov. 22, 1908, in Owensville, Ark., he moved with his family to this county in 1926 from Arkansas. Moore and the former Edith Dick were married June 28, 1939 in Cotton Center.

The deceased was a member of the Downtown Bible Class and First Baptist Church. He formerly served as a director on the Lighthouse Electric Cooperative board.

He was a farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Edith; his mother, Mrs. Lena Moore of Crosbyton; three sons, Frank Knox Moore of Crosbyton, Dr. Charles Moore of Corpus Christi, and Mike Moore of Lubbock; four brothers, Ola Moore and Arvis Moore, both of Crosbyton, Doyle Moore of Floydada, and Reed L. Moore of Ralls; two sisters, Mrs. Horace Ratheal and Mrs. C. F. Flemins, both of Crosbyon; and seven grandchildren.

Services for Edith Moore, 99, of Crosbyton will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 18, 2004 at the Crosbyton First Baptist Church with the Rev. Les Griffin and Rev. Floyd Bradley officiating. Burial will be in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton. Mrs. Moore died Thursday, October 14, 2004 at her home in Crosbyton.

She was born February 22, 1905 in Eastland County to Clarence Elmer, Sr. and Sarah Emily Knox Dick. On June 28, 1939 she married Henry Franklin "Frank" Moore in Cotton Center. He passed away May 3, 1978. She was a member of the Crosbyton First Baptist Church and taught an adult Sunday School Class for 18 years. She was a graduate of Abilene High School and attended Hardin Simmons College and Draughn Business College. She was a member of the Mt. Blanco Home Demonstration Club and a homemaker. She moved to Crosby County in 1937 from McCaulley. She is preceded in death by 3 brothers; Silas Dick, E. B. Dick and C. E. Dick, Jr., two sisters; Hazel Shugart and Margaret Tedder and a great grandson Caleb Knox Kruse.

Survivors include; three sons and their wives: Frank Knox and Judy Moore of Crosbyton, Charles and Virginia Moore of Corpus Christi and Mike and Pam Moore of San Antonio, a sister Sally Galloway of Floydada, seven grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to the Crosbyton First Baptist Church 300 W. Birch Crosbyton, Texas 79322 of a charity of your choice.
