James Roland Mize of Petersburg, a Crosbyton native, was claimed by death at 1:50 a.m. Friday in St. Mary´s Hospital in Lubbock after a two-month illness. He was 42.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in First Baptist Church in Crosbyton. The Rev. Ronnie Marley, pastor of Colonial Baptist Church in Lubbock, and the Rev. Donald Hancock, a Baptist minister from Midland, officiated.
Interment was made in Crosbyton Cemetery, under direction of Adams Funeral Home.
Pallbearers included Dub Griffin, Forest Griffin, Arthur Lee Griffin, David Edwards, Rick Edwards, Randy Smith, Robert Clemmons, and Steve Redinger.
Mr. Mize had lived in Petersburg since 1979. He worked as a salesman for R. C. Taylor Wholesale Tobacco Co. in Lubbock.
Born July 9, 1939 in Crosbyton, he was graduated from Petersburg High School in 1957. Mize served in the U.S. Army during 1957-´58 and again from 1961 until July 1962.
Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roland W. Mize of Petersburg; two daughters, Michelle Mize and Kimberli Mize, both of Longview; two sisters, Mrs. Bonnie Miller of Tucson, Ariz., and Mrs. Lou Palmer of Long Beach, Calif.
