Sam medina Prayer services for Samuel Amezcua Medina, 92, of Lubbock and formerly of Crosbyton will be at 7:00 PM, Monday, February 20, 2006 at the Crosbyton First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at the same church with the Rev. Porfirio Bas, pastor of Primera Iglesia Bautista in Lubbock officiating. Burial will be in the Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.

Samuel passed away Sunday, February 19, 2006 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born September 23, 1913 in Emiliano Zapata, Michoacan, Mexico, to the late Gregorio and Sofia (Amezcua) Medina. On April 14, 1936 he married Francisca Garza in Matamoros, Mexico. She preceded him in death on December 6, 1998.

He was a member of Calvario Baptist Mission in Crosbyton. He owned and operated Medina Irrigation and worked for Crosbyton Seed Company for many years.

Sam Medina was known for his hard work and integrity. He was praised by everyone that knew him. He was a man of vision. Sam also possessed the courage and perserverance to fulfill his vision of a better life for his family and his community. He loved his family and friends . Sam was a godly man.

Mr. Medina is preceded in death by a son; Pete Osuna in 1997, a daughter; Ramona Carranza in 1994, a brother; Ismael Medina and two sisters; Maria Luisa Spencer and Antonia Medina Survivors include; three sons; Joe of Crosbyton, Sam of Lubbock and Frank of Olton and four daughters; Elida Mendez of Crosbyton, Sophia Moreno of Lubbock, Petra Rendon of Crosbyton and Joyce Myers Brown of Atlanta, GA, a sister; Petra Garcia of LaBarca, Jalisco, Mexico, 50 Grandchildren, 108 Great Grandchildren and 25 Great Great Grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren; Edwin Mendez, Lorenzo Lopez, Tony Rendon, Greg Medina, Joe Carranza, Erik Medina and Jacob Medina.
