Services for Florence Maudie McMillan, 97, of Lubbock were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, at Monterey Baptist Church in Lubbock with Jeremy Wells, Youth Minister at Graham Baptist Church, officiating, and the Rev. Jim Brown assisting.

Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.

She died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.

She was born Dec. 12, 1903, in Comanche, TX.

She married Willie David McMillan on May 14, 1921, in Hamlin, TX. He died Dec. 7, 1961.

She was a member of the First Church of God where she served on the church board and as a Sunday School teacher. She moved to the South Plains in 1925 where she and her husband engaged in farming near Petersburg. They then moved to the East Plains in 1939 and to the Wake Community in 1940 where they lived until 1961 when their house burned and her husband died. She then moved to Lubbock. She was a member of the Wake Home Demonstration Club and the sewing club.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nelda Griffin, a granddaughter, Donna Gillespie, a brother, Festus Green, and a sister, Gladys Green.

Survivors include: three sons, W.B. McMillan and wife Elsie of Buffalo Lake, Denzil McMillan and wife Jean of Plainview, and B.E. McMillan and wife Bennie of Lubbock; a daughter, Wynn Nona McMillan of Santana, KS; nine grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
