Services for Betty McGinnes, 77, of Plano and formerly Crosbyton will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 30, 2007 in the Crosbyton First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bud Kidwell officiating. Burial will be in the Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.

Betty passed away Thursday, July 26, 2007 in Plano. She was born March 4, 1930 in Crosby County to the late C. J. and Martha Jane (Stockton) Higginbotham. On December 9, 1948 she married Floyd McGinnes in Happy.

Betty owned and operated McGinnes Business Service from 1973 until her retirement in December of 2005. She was a member of the Crosbyton First United Methodist Church where she served on various boards and taught Sunday school for many years.

She moved to Kaufman from Crosbyton in November of 2005 and then to Plano in April of 2006.

Survivors include; her husband; Floyd of Plano, a son and his wife; Kyle and Peggy McGinnes of Plano, a daughter and her husband; Kristi and Kevin Croy of Kaufman, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Serving as casket bearers were Brooks Ellison, Gary Cash, Lloyd Arthur, Kenneth Witt, Dale Stegall, Vic Reed and Zane Ellis.

Memorials may be made to the Crosbyton First United Methodist Church or to a charity of choice.

Services for Floyd Sam McGinnes, 78, of Crosbyton will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2009, in the Crosbyton First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Wendell Horn officiating. Burial will be in the Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.

Floyd passed away Thursday, March 5, 2009 in Plano, Texas. He was born August 22, 1930 on the Gross Ranch near Ballinger, Texas, to the late Sam and Inis (Low) McGinnes. On December 9, 1948, he married Betty Higginbotham in Happy, Texas. She preceded him in death on July 26, 2007.

Floyd served in the United States Army for two years during the Korean Conflict. He was elected Crosby County Clerk in 1963 and served in that office until his retirement in December 1995. He also owned and operated McGinnes Business Service with his wife, Betty until her retirement in December 2005. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he served on various boards and was a past president of Methodist Men. He was active in various community organizations, including the Lions Club, the Crosbyton Rural Housing Development, the Chamber of Commerce, the Boy Scouts, the Industrial Foundation, the Crosbyton Masonic Lodge, and The Gideons International.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Elton McGinnes, and a sister, Laura Low. Survivors include a son and his wife, Kyle and Peggy McGinnes of Plano; a daughter and her husband, Kristi and Kevin Croy of Scurry, Texas; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Serving as casket bearers will be Donnell Gowens, Johnny Wilson, Red Riley, Zane Ellis, Vic Read and Norman Earl Hardy. Honorary casket bearers are Joe Farris, George Brakebill, Buran House, Joe Hargrove and Kenneth Witt. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. on Friday at Adams Funeral Home in Crosbyton.

Memorials may be made to the Crosbyton First United Methodist Church or to The Gideons International.
