Obituary

Memorial services for William Russell McCurdy Jr. of Crosbyton were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Al Jennings, pastor, officiated.

Burial was made in Crosbyton Cemetery, under direction of Adams Funeral Home.

Mr. McCurdy died about 1:10 a.m. Sunday in an accidental fall from a multi-level parking lot building at Dallas Convention Center, according to information released to The Review. Dallas County medical examiners are withholding a ruling pending an autopsy.

Mr. McCurdy was born Feb. 20, 1940. While attending local schools, he represented Crosby County in a state spelling bee, participated in UIL math competition and was active in Chieftain Band.

Mr. McCurdy was a graduate of Crosbyton High school, Texas Tech University and the University of Texas at Austin.

For 17 years he was associated with the Texas Department of Health, Education and Welfare (now Texas Department of Human Resources). Mr. McCurdy resided in Austin during the time.

He is survived by his mother, Beulah McCurdy of Crosbyton and an aunt Mrs. Ida Mae Townsend of Pittsburgh, Texas.
