Services for Jerry Glen McCray, 66, of Crosbyton were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003 at the Crosbyton First Baptist Church with Rev. Stacy Conner and Rev. Les Griffin, officiating. Burial was in the Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.He died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at University Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born January 16, 1937 in Smyer, Texas to Ardis G. and Minnie Altman McCray. He married Janelle Mayes April 16, 1955 in Crosbyton.
He was a member of the Crosbyton First Baptist Church, a truck driver and a farmer. He moved to Crosbyton four years ago from Kansas, where he had farmed near Johnson, KS for 35 years.
Survivors include his wife Janelle of Crosbyton, [his mother Minnie McCray of Lubbock,] a son, Jimmy McCray of Crosbyton, 2 daughters, Joy Loader and her husband Charles of Smithville, TN and Jana McCray of Johnson, a brother; Gary "Butch" McCray and his wife, Jo, of Muleshoe, TX; 3 sisters; Glenda King and her husband Henry of Ransom Canyon, Tx, Laura Hand and her husband Bill of Spearman, Tx and Alice Reed and her husband Ronnie of Lubbock;four grandchildren, Shane Loader, Brandon Loader, Jeremy Loader and Crystal McCray and a great granddaughter Llexia Loader and by several nieces and nephews.
Casket bearers are John Weakley, Rickey White, Lloyd McCray, Billy Altman, Ronnie Reed & Jimmy Don McCray.
The family requests memorials to the Special Olympics of Kansas in honor of his grandson Shane Loader.
