McCLURE FAMILY ENJOY REUNION

Mr. and Mrs. C.A. McClure of the East Plains had the pleasure of having all their children home Sunday in a family reunion.

Those present were Mr. and Mrs. James Stone of Amarillo, cousins of Mr. McClure; Mr. and Mrs. F.B. Norman and son, of Amarillo; Mr. and Mrs. J. W. McClure of Floydada, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Cage and son of Pansy, Mr. J. H. McClure and family, Connie, Rachael and Martha Lou. They had as their evening guest, Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Bennett.

Obituary

Death claimed C. A. McClure, 76, at 12:15 p.m. Thursday in Crosbyton Clinic-Hospital after a week´s illness.

Rev. Wayland Boyd officiated at funeral services conducted in the First Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m. Saturday. Assisting him were Rev. J. R. Williams, Mt. Blanco, and Rev. Virgil Chron, Cone.

Born in Collin County, early settler McClure moved to Mt. Blanco community in 1917. He lived there until his retirement in 1955 when he moved to Crosbyton.

Mr. McClure, one of the organizers of the Mt. Blanco Baptist church, had been a deacon for 49 years. He was Sunday School superintendent at Mt. Blanco 25 years. He served his community in many capacities. At one time Beach, Calif;

Maudie McClure Beloved Maudie Mae (Mother) McClure succumbed about 12:30 a.m. Monday in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. McClure was 92.

An early settler in this county, Mrs. McClure and her late husband, Connie Allen McClure, moved to West Texas on Thanksgiving Day in 1917. They settled in the Mount Blanco Community. The couple moved into Crosbyton in 1955.

Memorial services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist Church in Crosbyton, where Mrs. McClure was a faithful member. Officiating were the Rev. Bobby Rine, pastor, and Elder Dennis Taylor of Mt. Pleasant Primitive Baptist Church in Grinnell, Iowa, a son-in-law of Mrs. McClure.

King Funeral Home directed burial in Crosbyton Cemetery beside the grave of her late husband. Mr. McClure preceded his wife in death Sept. 3, 1959.

Born January 8, 1884 in Dyer, Tenn., the former Maudie Mae Mosley was married to Connie Allen McClure, November 2, 1902, in Wise County.

"Mother": McClure was a charter member of Mount Blanco Baptist Church, which was organized in 1918. She served as W.M.U. president and was the Junior Sunday School teacher for 33 years at the former Mount Blanco church. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Crosbyton.

Survivors include two sons, Hoyt McClure and Weldon McClure, both of Crosbyton; five daughters, Mrs. Edna Norman of Abilene, Mrs. Bonnie Cage of Floydada, Mrs. Martha Lou Moss of Memphis, Mrs. Rachel Taylor of Grinnell, Iowa, and Mrs. Connie Allen of Crosbyton; one sister,Mrs. Luna Baker of Plainview; 218 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.

Grandsons were pallbearer. Serving as honorary pallbearers were grand-sons-in-laws.
