LUBBOCK — Mass of Christian burial for Idenia Irene Martinez, 68, of Lubbock will be on Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Martin Pi a officiating. Interment will follow at Crosbyton Cemetery, under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Friends are invited to pray the rosary on Sunday at 7 p.m. in the chapel.
Irene, as she was known, passed into the waiting arms of her Savior on Oct. 10, 2013. She was born on March 8, 1945, in Sinton, Texas, to her late parents, Juan and Eva Martinez. Ms. Martinez worked for UMC for more than 25 years until her retirement in 2010. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include her children: Tina Gomez (Matthew), Michael Moa (Norma), Peggy Delgado (Jose), Mary Cavazos (Eddie), all of Lubbock, and Ruben Moa of Florida; her sister, Minnie Martinez of Minn.; and brother, Thomas Martinez of Lubbock. She was blessed with 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Irene was preceded in death by her father (1990); mother (2002); and brother, Daniel Martinez (2002).
