In Remembrance of

Lloyd Martin

Rose Spray

Lloyd MartinLloyd was born on August 12 th, 1929 in Liberal, KS and departed this life October 6, 2013 in Crosbyton, TX. Lloyd was preceded in death by first wife, Dorthy Eva Combs Martin on July 22, 1963 and his son, Jerry Allen Martin in 2012. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Jo Martin, daughters, Cheryl Corey of Amarillo, Joanie Ellison of Lubbock, Jill Petersen of Austin, and sons, Kris Ellison of McAdoo, and John Keith Ellison of Midland. He has 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter. He has two surviving siblings, Freda Hoeffner of Felt, NM and Alice Hubbard of Tehachipi , CA. Siblings that preceded him in death: three brothers: Wayne, Harold, and Glenard, and three sisters: Doris Wiley, Viola Helpingstine, and Norma June Martin.

Lloyd left this world from home, with his wife of 49 years by his side. Dad was a man who could fix anything with bailing wire and a pair of pliers. Early years were spent in Colorado, farming and ranching. He traveled the country before finally settling in Texas in 1961 where he continued farming. Lloyd enjoyed so much in life: church, hunting, farming, traveling, restoring tractors, winning tractor pulls, and cooking. His passion was his family, sharing time with friends, and hunting with friends and family. The trips back to Lake City, Colorado with Pappy were extra special. Prior to his long illness, dad was known by most as a man of few words. The stroke he suffered in 2004 took away his ability to speak very much more than he ever had, but he laughed more than ever and even joked around when he couldn't get the words to come. He was always a tower of quiet strength to us all. These last few years we have all become closer to him. He will be greatly missed, but we know he is living without pain in Heaven with his siblings, Dorthy, and son, Jerry, who went before him.

Services for Lloyd will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday October 08, 2013 at the Crosbyton Church of Christ with Terry Ellison officiating. Burial will follow in the Crosbyton Cemetery under the care of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton. The family will have a visitation from 6 to 7 Monday at Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton. Also the family would like to send out a heartfelt thank you to all the caregivers that care for both Lloyd and Jo: Latisha, Michelle, Janette, JoAnn and Sandra. Without them the last few years would have been impossible. They loved Lloyd and know that he loved them as well.
