U.S.Flag Claude Edgar Long, a son of Mrs. Myrtle Long and a brother of Mrs. Arnal Fowler and W. G. (Chubby) Long of Crosbyton, was found dead Friday near his residence in Kermit. He was 53.

Long was an oil field roughneck.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in the King Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating was Lloyd Hall, minister of the Crosbyton Church of Christ.

Burial was made in Crosbyton Cemetery, under direction of King Funeral Home.

Mr. Long was born Jan. 13, 1921, in Clymaxis, Tex. He was a former Crosbyton resident.

A veteran of World War II and Woodmen of the World, the deceased moved to Kermit about three years ago. He had lived there periodically for approximately 20 years.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. R. C. Page of Carrollton; his mother, Mrs. Myrtle Long of Crosbyton; two brothers, W. G. (Chubby) Long of Crosbyton and Harold Clay Long of Midland; four sisters, Mrs. Margie Cahill of Jollyville, Mrs. Mabel Parker of Pampa, Miss Ona Bell Long of El Paso and Mrs. Jeraldine Fowler of Crosbyton; and one grandchild.

Serving as pallbearers were: Don Ballard, J. W. Wood, J.W. Jackson, Charles Freeman, Arles Graham and Roy Lee Ellis.
