Services for Martha Elizabeth (Bessie) Lewis, 99, of Crosbyton were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 21, 1990 in the Crosbyton First Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Rine, pastor of Woodrow First Baptist Church and Rev. Lester B. Griffin, pastor of the Crosbyton First Baptist Church officiating.

Burial followed in the Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lewis died at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 1990 in Western Hill Nursing Home in White Settlement following a lengthy illness.

She was born May 24, 1890 in Indian Territory, Oklahoma and married Wesley J. Lewis May 28, 1905 in Comanche County, Tx. He preceded her in death Sept. 19, 1965. She was a homemaker and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. She moved to the Crosbyton area in 1951 from Lubbock.

Preceding her in death was a son, J. C. Lewis who died in 1984 and a daughter, Audrie L. Johnson who died Nov. 7, 1983.

Survivors include: 4 daughters; Edrie Taylor of Crosbyton, Mary E. Shipman of Lubbock, Sylvie Millson of Mabank, Texas and Roxie Alston of Fort Worth; 2 brothers, E. M. Jones of Jayton and Tom Jones of Bryan; 1 sister Exie Dillingham of Abilene; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers: Grandsons.
