Fabian Lemley, superintendent of McAdoo School District and recognized during his coaching career as one of Texas´ foremost high school basketball mentors, was claimed by death at 7:30 a.m. Monday in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital.
Mr. Lemley had entered the hospital after becoming ill Wednesday night. The 62-year-old educator had suffered a lengthy illness.
Memorial services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church of Crosbyton. Officiating were the Rev. Bobby Rine, pastor, and George Johnson, elder of the Crosbyton Primitive Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial was made in Crosbyton Cemetery. Adams Funeral Home directed arrangements.
Serving as pallbearers were Bob Perkins, Charles Freeman, Joe McGlaun, Bub Eldredge, Wayne Hill, Henry Ford, Jim Curry and Hubert Hawley.
After teaching in the Crosbyton school system in 1951-52 Mr. Lemley was employed in September 1952 as high school principal and head basketball coach at McAdoo School.
His McAdoo Eagles basketball teams won the state championship in 1960, 1963 and 1964. He was selected to coach the All-Star basketball team in 1964 and was named as "Coach of the Year" in 1960, 1961 and 1964.
Fabian Lemley became superintendent of McAdoo School in 1967.
Born July 14, 1919 in Graham he had resided in the Crosbyton area most of his life.
The former Jean Carter and Lemley were married Feb. 17, 1942 in Clovis, N.M. Mrs. Lemley presently serves as administrator of Crosbyton Clinic Hospital.
Mr. Lemley was a World War II veteran, having served four years in the U.S. Air Force. Following his discharge, he returned to Crosbyton in 1946 and was associated with his father in the operation of a food store until 1951.
In addition to being a member of the School Administration Association, the Texas State Teachers Association and the National Educators Association, he held membership in the Cattle Raisers Association and the American Hereford Association.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; one daughter, Gay Ratheal of Weatherford; his mother, Maggie Lemley of Crosbyton; one brother, Troy Lemley of Phillips; and three grandchildren.

CROSBYTON (Special) — Services for Jean Lemley, 69, of Crosbyton will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lester B. Griffin, pastor, officiating.Burial will be in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lemley died at 10:23 a.m. Friday in Lubbock´s Methodist Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born in Crosbyton. She married Fabian Lemley on Feb. 17, 1942, in Crosbyton. He died May 3, 1982. She graduated from Crosbyton High School and Draughans Business College. She attended Mary Hardin Baylor and was former administrator of Crosbyton Clinic Hospital. She was a member of the Hospital Auxillary, Bridge Club and First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Gay Ratheal of Weatherford; two sisters, Catherine Blackwood of Wills Point and Frances Slaybough of Amarillo; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Carter Karr, Robert Stanley Karr, David Karr, David Blackwood, Don Blackwood and Elmer Reed Jr.
